Electric Service

Service upgrades, meter bases, meter-mains and service masts for homes, shops and barns across the Portland metro. We handle the permit and work with PGE, Pacific Power and Canby Utility to get your power back on.

What makes up your electric service

Everything between the utility’s wires and your breaker panel. We install and replace every piece of it.

Service drop or lateral

The utility’s wires that bring power to your home, either overhead from the pole or buried underground.

Mast & weatherhead

The pipe on the roof that holds the overhead wires and carries them down to the meter. Falling limbs and heavy snow can bend or pull it loose.

Meter base

The socket your utility’s meter plugs into. Older bases rust, loosen and can burn at the jaws, and they usually get replaced with a service upgrade.

Main disconnect

The main breaker shuts off the whole house. With a meter-main combination it sits outside next to the meter, so power can be shut off without going indoors.

How a service upgrade works

01

Site visit & load check

We look at your current service and what you plan to add, then quote the right size for the job.

02

Permit & utility scheduling

We pull the electrical permit and schedule the disconnect and reconnect with your utility.

03

Install day

Power is off while we replace the mast, meter base and main. We’ll tell you ahead of time how long to plan for.

04

Inspection & power back on

Once the work passes inspection, the utility sets the meter and your power is back on.

Storm or tree damage

Mast bent or wires pulled off the house?

Stay well away from any downed wires and call your utility first. Then call us. We repair the mast, meter base and service entrance so the utility can restore your power.
