Panels we recommend replacing
Some older panels are known fire hazards or simply can’t handle a modern home. If you have one of these, we can inspect it and give you options.
Federal Pacific (FPE) Stab-Lok
Breakers that can fail to trip during an overload or short, leaving wires to overheat. A known fire hazard (see the burned FPE panel below); we recommend replacement.
Zinsco / Sylvania
Breakers can melt onto the bus bar and stay on when they should trip. A known fire hazard; we recommend replacement.
Pushmatic & Bulldog
Decades-old panels with stiff, worn breakers and hard-to-find replacement parts. Often too small for today’s loads.
Fuse boxes
Older homes on fuses often have too few circuits and are commonly flagged by insurance companies and home inspectors.

This is what an overheating panel can do

Warning signs of electrical trouble
If you notice any of these in your home, have a licensed electrician inspect your system. Most are easy to fix, and catching them early prevents fires and shocks.
